Singapore Telecommunications Ltd says cellular mobile phone users subscribing to its Groupe Speciale Mobile cellular communications network can now use their handsets while travelling in Australia: they will have to buy a special Subscriber Identity Module card and plug it into the phone to access the system; the card for Australia will cost about $3.30 a day plus a registration fee of around $13; it wants to add roaming capabilities for the UK, France, Norway, Switzerland and Hong Kong and plans to include all ASEAN nations in the network over the next two years.
