Seattle, Washington-based Attachmate Corp has announced version 3.1 of IRMA TCP Suite for Windows, its TCP/IP communications offering. On the Internet access side, v3.1 is said to enable users to access public Internet information resources, as well as host applications on private TCP/IP corporate networks, via a single graphical interface, with direct access to IBM Corp mainframe and AS/400 systems, as well as Digital Equipment Corp and Unix hosts possible. It also features electronic mail, news readers and a File Transfer Protocol client-server for transferring files to and from personal computers. According to the company, the offering additionally includes a dynamic link library-based Winsock-compliant TCP/IP stack, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol support, a package of reporting and diagnostic tools for TCP/IP networks, and development tools for creating new client screens and communication routines. It also features Netscape Navigator 1.2. The product is shipping now for $265, with an upgrade from the previous release priced at $100. A licence will cost $80.
