Attachmate Corp has now completed its acquisition of Palo Alto, California-based Wollongong Group Inc, and has released more information on its plans for the company. Wollongong will effectively become Attachmate’s new Intranet Products Group, headed by Herb Martin, who was previously president and chief operating officer of Wollongong, and remaining in Palo Alto. Attachmate reckons the combination of Wollongong’s object- oriented Emissary Internet technology and its own host access software and collaborative technology will enable it to deliver a completely object-oriented drag-and-drop Intranet offering. The company also plans to introduce new Intranet consulting services to help customers plan, design, implement, support and manage their corporate Intranets. A number of new products are planned by the Intranet Products Group for this quarter. Emissary Workgroup is designed for complete Internet and Intranet Web conferencing, browsing, publishing, searching, tracking and document management, and can be linked to any Web server or Home Page. Emissary Host Publishing System dynamically links host applications and data to Web pages or servers to enable organisations to build robust Web applications readable by any browser and Emissary Intranet/Internet Services provides telephone support and on-site consulting, design and development of secure Intranets. The products will be up under Windows, Windows NT and Windows95. Pricing and availability details will be released nearer the time, Attachmate said.
