There is a large amount of litigation in the US accusing mobile phone operators of exposing their customers to excessive radiation levels. By giving out the free earpieces, said to reduce the health risks of using mobile phones, AT&T Wireless could reduce any penalties resulting from the lawsuits being brought against it.
However, according to the Financial Times, the company has said that this is not the reason it has made the offer. This is not admitting that any of these lawsuits are valid, said a company spokesperson. It’s not a concession. It gives customers a choice and builds customer loyalty.
