AT&T Corp has signed an agreement with Jones Intercable Inc for the installation of nearly 50 route miles of fiber optic cable in the Chicago area, which AT&T will then lease and use to offer local telephone service. The deal is part of its plan to install 350 route miles of high capacity fiber in the Chicago area over the next two years.
