AT&T Co, which has turned itself into a major issuer of credit cards over the past couple of years with its Universal Card, plans to increase the heat on its rivals, the Wall Street Journal reports: the next come-on will be to invite holders of other cards to transfer their accounts to AT&T Universal with a guarantee of no annual fee – provided they have at least $1,000 outstanding on their present card.
