AT&T TO LAY OFF 140 AT INTERCHANGE

AT&T Corp is expected to lay off 140 people, or 50% of the workforce, at the defunct Interchange on-line service, which it bought just over a year ago for more than $50m: the Cambridge, Massachusetts service, bought from Ziff Communications Co, was originally billed as a next-generation electronic publishing service but has been wiped out by the World Wide Web.
