AT&T Corp will start a local telephone service in Georgia on a trial basis beginning on September 1 for a small number of customers at first, but it wants it to be available throughout the state starting November 1, AT&T said. It said it assumes BellSouth Corp will comply fully and on time with the Georgia Public Service Commission’s recent order that calls for BellSouth to provide AT&T and other potential competitors with wholesale rates.
