AT&T Co has joined the rush to help the Soviet Union to drag its infrastructure into the late twentieth century and according to the Teleputing Hotline is to help in the construction of a technology centre in Moscow, and perhaps in other cities. The proposed Cosmopolis will include industrial and research centres, hotels, cultural facilities, and the Soviets’ first Institute of the Future. Capital Hills Development, working with AT&T on a 2,000 acre planned intelligent city near Los Angeles, is ready to build the new centre. AT&T plans to supply fibre optics and data switching equipment for networking and teleconferencing. The Cosmopolis will include a satellite earthstation to provide video conferencing and high speed data transmission facilities.
