AT&T TO DOUBLE THE SIZE OF ITS DIGITAL LONG DISTANCE NETWORK

And AT&T announced yesterday that it will nearly double the size of its digital long distance network by the end of 1991, making an investment of $3,000m in its worldwide network next year and a similar amount in 1989: under the new plan, AT&T will expand its domestic digital network to 60,000 miles by 1989 and to 67,000 miles by 1990 and outside the US, its digital network will grow to 74,000 miles in 1989 and to 88,000 miles by 1991, an increase of 14,000 miles and $500m a year over the expansion plans announced back in January.
