The Saint Petersburg defence industry enterprise, Dalnya Sviaz DALS – has signed a joint venture agreement with AT&T Co, under which DALS will market the full range of AT&T digital communication equipment in the former Soviet Union. Negotiations are said to have been going on for the last year – DALS laid the trunk network in the former Soviet Union and currently manufactures, among other things, fibre optic cables and navigation equipment. AT&T also has a major joint venture in the Ukraine and put a 180-line gateway into Armenia.
