At the same time as AT&T Co was explaining how it planned to cut 6,000 jobs in its Network Services division last week as a result of reorganisation of its worldwide intelligent network, the company was announcing plans to take on 2,500 people in Atlanta, Georgia, where it is establishing two national centres in metropolitan Atlanta involved in the engineering and control of – the company’s worldwide intelligent network, reason being that work currently done at nine centres will be transferred.
