Version 2.0 of AT&T Global Information Solution Inc’s StarSentry Software Manager now enables administrators to distribute software from a Unix system to networked personal computers running NetWare or to Network File System clients that are not attached. It already supports distribution to other Unix systems over TCP/IP, over LAN Manager, Systems Network Architecture or Open System Interconnection. The console is priced from $15,000, network server and client licence are from $300 and $60 respectively. Transarc Corp’s Encina transaction processing monitor is now being implemented for AT&T Global’s System 3000 series – beta test implementations are available from Transarc now, with a general release planned for the third quarter. The monitor runs with AT&T’s StarPro Distributed Computing Environment implementation.
