AT&T Co also announced that existing Systimax Premises Distribution Systems using standard telephone wire will now support Token Ring local area networks running at speeds of up to 16Mbps using personal computer adaptor cards manufactured by Proteon Inc or IBM: with these cards, telephone wire-based Systimax PDS can support a total of 72 workstations over distances up to 50 yards in an office.
