AT&T Co has teamed with Rochester Telephone Co for the first test of a prototype residential Integrated Services Digital Network that would enable subscribers to send speech, data and video concurrently over one phone line. Using an AT&T controller, the system would enable residents to convert a single line into several lines, each with its own number. The system is undergoing trials in 35 Rochester, New York homes, which will also try the IBM-Sears Prodigy viewdata service.
