AT&T Corp president Alex Mandl has jumped ship for a reputed $20m upfront and $1m a year at Washington DC company, Associated Communications LLC. 55%-owned by Associated Group Inc of Pittsburgh, it was formed to handle high-speed data traffic, Internet access and video links and use a little-noticed slice of the wire less spectrum to offer businesses in some 30 markets a way to bypass their local phone companies.
