AT&T Co, which is promising two major computer launches a year from here on in to keep pace with the march of technology, is tipped to come out with a version of the new 3B4000 next year, replacing the WE 32100 microprocessors with a RISC-based CPU and offering higher performance than the 3B4000. AT&T has also won an early major order – estimated to be worth $20m or so – for the new Olivetti-built 6386 WorkGroup 80386-based machines from McDonalds in the US, which is planning to put one of the machines into each of its 1,875 company-owned fast food stores in the US.
