The US General Services Administration has responded quickly to AT&T’s complaint that the requirement of a guarantee of fixed tariffs in the rules for the FTS2000 government network bid precluded regulated phone companies from tendering: it is allowing AT&T to file a 10-year tariff with the Federal Communications Commission – which is anyway unlikely to demand that rates be raised – and the deadline for bids is now July 31.
