AT&T Co’s AT&T Paradyne in Largo, Florida, has announced the development of CAP – Carrierless, Amplitude modulation, Phase modulation – which provides T1/E1 service over one pair of twisted copper wire or local loop telephone lines without using line repeaters or line conditioning. It says the initial use of the CAP technology will be in High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line and Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line applications.
