AT&T, NEC MAY JOINTLY DEVELOP PEN-BASED COMPUTERS

AT&T and NEC Corp are discussing a possible joint venture to develop pen-based computers for non-consumer use. An NEC spokesman, however, denied a report in Japan’s business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun that the two companies have already planned to develop a portable personal computer capable of wireless communication, but added that negotiations are ongoing on pen-based computers with AT&T and with other companies.
