AT&T Microelectronics in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey is to manufacture two of the field-programmable gate arrays developed by San Jose, California-based Xilinx Inc: the semi-custom devices can be customised by the system designer on personal computers or workstations, greatly reducing the time it takes to bring new products to market: AT&T gains the right to market the programmable gate arrays it will manufacture under the five-year multi-million dollar agreement, and expects to be in volume production by the third quarter of 1990.
