AT&T Co’s AT&T Istel Ltd has extended its UK managed network service across Europe. It will offer value-added services such as network design, supply, consolidated billing, network management, a managed X25 service and a range of private data line services all based on AT&T’s Accunet services. Services and network management are via the Global Network Management Centre in Redditch, Worcestershire, which is itself linked to a similar centre in the US. A third Global Network Centre will open in the Netherlands at the end of the year. Managed network nodes will be located at AT&T and NCR Corp sites linking the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden. No tariffing details are being made available – these are to be worked out on a case-by-case basis – but the first customer, financial advisor J P Morgan, has been announced. Also planned is a satellite service to inaccessible areas including Eastern Europe and North Africa using equipment from AT&T Tridom Inc.
