AT&T Corp has been warning analysts that its near-term profits will be hurt by a series of actions that include cost-cutting moves and heavy investments to take it into new markets, including the local telephone service business. It expects 1997 earnings from core long distance and wireless businesses of $3.45 to $3.75 per share, compared with the $3.47 reported for 1996.
