AT&T has reached a seven-year pact with Communications Satellite Corp that guarantees that AT&T will take 20,000 circuits and give Comsat a minimum of 34% of the growth in AT&T’s international traffic, protecting it from the proliferation of undersea fibre optic cables: at present AT&T is required to send most traffic via Comsat; the Federal Communications Commission will have to approve the new agreement.
