The slow rate of migration by VAX users to Digital Equipment Corp’s Alpha AXP RISC line has persuaded AT&T Global Information Solutions that the base is ripe for plundering and has announced a new worldwide services programme to help users migrate to Unix System V on AT&T Global 3400 and 3500 iAPX-86-based systems, with specific services tailored for financial, public sector, consumer goods manufacturing and communications industry organisations. It has retained VAX-to-Unix migration firms Sector 7 Inc, Thursby Software Systems Inc, Boston Consulting Corp and Accelr8 Inc to assist.
