AT&T Co has signed with TouchStone Software Corp, Seal Beach, California, to sell its Teworks/lan terminal emulation software to users of micros on AT&T’s Starlan network. The software implements terminal emulations to link the Starlan network to outside computers and information services, enabling a micro on Starlan local area network to emulate Teletype, ANSI or DEC VT100 or VT220 terminals, and supports a wide variety of international character sets as well as 7-bit and 8-bit extended ASCII codes. It supports both Xmodem error-checking protocol and ASCII non protocol data capture to receive and send files. The software package needs 256Kb on any MS-DOS micro running 2.0 or above that has a Starlan interface. Starlan now operates at up to 10Mbps and can be integrated with AT&T’s wide-area and campus networking. Our agreement furthers a long-term relationship with AT&T dating back to April 1984, said Larry Dingus, TouchStone chairman, who looks for further agreeements in the future.
