Seeking to emulate Micron Technology Inc, two Indian-born brothers, Damodar Reddy and C N Reddy have raised the cash – with the help of the state of Missouri – to take over and reopen the mothballed AT&T chip shop in Kansas City and employ up to 1,200 fabricating 1M-bit dynamic RAMs: their firm, Alliance Semiconductor Corp, in San Jose, designed the 1M part being fabricated by Minebea Co’s NMB Semiconductor, and will make that, and 64K statics, at the plant; it also expects royalties from NMB and can take for resale 50% of NMB output.
