The US media have teased out that AT&T Corp’s proposal to invest in Compagnie des Machines Bull SA is conditional on Bull being granted a telecommunications operators licence allowing it to compete with 17% Bull shareholder France Telecom – which seems an extremely unlikely scenario. It envisages running the telecommunications side while partner Quadral runs the computer side.
