After several false starts by Olivetti – which is making the thing in Italy – AT&T Co has now decided to handle UK marketing of its System 75 digital PABX itself, and it has formed a new Systems Marketing Centre in London with the System 75 as its first product. The 75 handles speech, data, text and image for up to 800 extensions, and includes a Directory that can provide a regularly updated listing of employees by name and extension. The switch is guaranteed to be non-blocking with up to 250 concurrent calls, and transmits and receives speech and data at 64Kbps. AT&T has retained N G Bailey & Co Ltd of London to handle installation and maintenance. In Europe, System 75 is already marketed in Greece and Italy.
