AT&T BIDS FOR THE US GOVERNMENT TELEPHONE EXCHANGE CONTRACT

AT&T’s complaints that bidding on $55m of US government telephone exchange contracts was less than kosher seem to be borne out by investigations by the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee: chairman John Glenn says that BellSouth Corp and Bell Atlantic Corp have admitted that they received confidential information on the price of the AT&T bids that they had to beat from a General Services Administration official – although Bell Atlantic says the information related only to the published price list.
