IT services company Atos has signed a seven-year contract with competence centre of Bayer Group for IT and business services, Bayer Business Services GmbH.

Atos will take over full management of the defined IT services from Bayer Business Services from April 2012.

Bayer group CIO and Bayer Business Services CEO Daniel Hartert said Bayer Business Services’ possibilities to reach economies of scale are limited and the internal costs are too high, thus the company has decided to outsource particular services like end-user support and helpdesk support in Germany to an established IT service provider.

"I am convinced that Atos is the right partner for us," said Hartert.

Atos Chairman and CEO Thierry Breton said the the deal is a major deal for Atos in Germany, consolidating its position as a top three IT services player in the German market.

"Our business technologists have the industry expertise and experience to drive innovation that will enable Bayer Business Services to optimise its IT-infrastructure and ensure it meets the business requirements of the Bayer Group today and tomorrow," said Breton.
