Atos has been named as the first IT company to obtain the Binding Corporate Rules (BCR) approval. The approval relates to the processing of personal data on behalf of its clients and for itself.
The approval covers the worldwide operations of Atos Group including Atos Worldgrid, Canopy and Worldline, and has been granted by all European data protection authorities.

BCRs allow multinational companies to transfer personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA) to their affiliates located outside of the EE. This is in compliance with the 8th data protection principle and Article 25 of Directive 95/46/EC.
Companies must demonstrate to all local data protection authorities that BCR are actions that have been implemented to ensure adequate safeguards for protecting personal data throughout the organisation.
