Average chip prices have stabilized across all products lines and show meaningful increases in key areas according to Atmel Corp, the San Jose, California-based chip manufacturer. President and CEO George Perlegos says that in addition to record quarterly sales, the positive bookings trend accelerated through the second-quarter giving the company a book-to-bill ratio of more than 1.20.

Atmel recorded net profit of $15.4m in the second quarter to June 30 up on a loss of $91.4 (when the company was hit by restructuring and takeover related charges totaling $89.4m) on revenue up 7.9% at $311.1m. Mid-term profit was $3m up on a loss of $64.6 on revenue that rose 9.5% to $601.1m.
