Atmel Corp and Signetics Co have finalised a cross-licensing and product exchange agreement covering several proprietary programmable logic devices: under the terms of the five-year agreement, the two companies will exchange products and each will receive worldwide marketing rights for thye products, with no fees or royalties exchanged, and the agreement is effective immediately; Atmel will trade a trio of high-density, high-performance programmable circuits for four Signetics devices that feature a combination of low power usage, applications versatility and speed; the Atmel devices give Signetics access to markets for extremely high-density programmable logic devices and Atmel will gain a foothold in niche-oriented markets.
