The ATM Forum, the body that sets standards for through-the wall cash machines (just kidding) has announced the formation of a Residential and Small Business ad hoc working group. On the group’s agenda is the identification of interoperability, service quality and Asynchronous Transfer Mode functionality needs for emerging residential and small business multimedia applications. Under the auspices of the North American Marketing Committee’s End User Focus Group, the group will provide the ATM Forum Technical Committee with information on service requirements, in order to assist the development of implementation agreements for multimedia services in the residential and small business sector. The multimedia services to be targeted by the working group are to include interactive entertainment, telecommuting, infor mation-on-demand for infotainment, distance learning, health care and security surveillance.
