Comenting on the company’s mid-term figures (see Company Results p3), Atlantic Computers Plc’s chairman John Gillum said both continental Europe and US computer services had made a significant contribution to profits and increased worldwide activity, vindicating the decision taken two years ago expand both activities; Atlantic, which is the subject of an agreed bid by British & Commonwealth Holdings Plc, has standardised training and marketing procedures throughout its computer systems supply activities worldwide resulting, according to the company, in a wider spread of business, a greater number of lease transactions and a lesser dependence on a few major orders: the only black spot was the Atlantic Network Systems division which showed a loss; the company says though business increased by more than 60% recovery has been slower than anticipated.
