Fast-growing and hungry Atlantic Computers Plc, which earlier this year bought first Amsterdam-based ICA Europe BV and then Comcap Plc, on Friday went for the hat trick with the purchase of Hamilton Rentals from Hamilton Group Ltd of Ontario, Canada for UKP9.6m in new shares by way of a vendor placing. 40% of Hamilton Rentals’ UKP24m turnover – pre-tax profits UKP1.1m – in the year to April 30 came from the selling and renting of DEC equipment – hence its attraction to Atlantic which has been strengthening its presence in the DEC market. Hamilton also rents electronic test equipment. Based in North London near Staples Corner, it does 70% of its business in the UK – the rest of it in France and Netherlands. Atlantic’s shares, up from 270p last November, dropped threepence on news of the acquisition to 764p.
