Atari Corp has unveiled the UK-designed Portfolio pocket MS-DOS machine in the US. The Portfolio, designed by Distributed Information Processing Ltd of Guildford, Surrey, is called the Folio in the UK (CI No 1,122). Using an 80C88 processor, it is about the size of a videocassette, has a full – but small Qwerty keyboard, 128Kb to 640Kb memory, MS-DOS, built-in word processor and Lotus 1-2-3-compatible spreadsheet, address book and calculator, and an eight line by 40 character liquid crystal display. Programs come on memory cards, there is an optional modem, and it ships for $400 in the US from June.
