The US District Court in San Francisco granted a preliminary injunction against Atari Games Inc and its Tengen Inc subsidiary prohibiting any marketing or sale in the US of the Soviet-developed Tetris video game cartridges for play on the Nintendo Entertainment System: Nintendo claims that it acquired the exclusive worldwide rights to Tetris for playing on home video game systems in March 1989 from the Elorg Soviet government agency.
