Atari Corp has decided to entrust manufacture of its Jaguar multimedia machine – which is powered by a custom 64-bit RISC chip, to IBM Corp’s Charlotte, North Carolina plant. The Sunnyvale company has given IBM a vast contract valued at $500m over three years. The Jaguar is an interactive multimedia entertainment system showing 16m colours using 24-bit true colour graphics.
