ATARI LICENSES JAGUAR CPU TO SIGMA DESIGNS

Atari Corp, Sunnyvale, is betting what is left of the company on its proprietary 64-bit RISC-based Jaguar games machine, but it desperately needs to make the thing more credible. It has therefore licensed the CPU and related technology to Sigma Designs Inc so that Sigma can combine it with its Reel-Motion live action video technology and build it into boards for iAPX-86 personal computers; ships are planned for year-end.
