Subscribers can logically argue that we are being inconsistent when we say that IBM Corp would be crazy to launch the Power Personal Systems before OS/2 for PowerPC is ready (CI No 2,495) and then say today (page two) that OS/2 will never be more than a modest success: the explanation is that we don’t expect the Power Personals to be more than modestly successful even if they are launched with a solid OS/2 from day one, but without a desktop operating system they will be branded abject failures, a situation that is unrecoverable; moreover OS/2 for PowerPC includes what used to be called Workplace OS with the Mach microkernel able to host a host of other personalities.
