Bellevue, Washington-based Asymetrix Corp is shipping Asymetrix 3D F/X, a graphics tool for creating three dimensional images. It provides real-time, solid-model preview enabling users to see their scenes with realistic solid shapes rather than wire-frame simulations. The built-in Visual Browser includes 300 three-dimensional starter scenes, animation paths, lighting variations, backgrounds and surfaces that can be modified. True reflections and optical effects are available through ray tracing. The scene contents window provides an interactive outline view of all scene elements. The rendering engine enables users to complete their finished animations in a fraction of the time required by traditional animation packages. Users can output still images as .BMP or .TGA files, and animations as AVI video files and sequentially numbered .BMP files. 3D F/X is compatible with Microsoft Office, and supports OLE 2.0. It requires Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later, 33MHz 80386 computer; maths co-processor; CD-ROM drive; hard drive with 16Mb free disk space; 8Mb RAM and a Windows-compatible graphics adaptor board supporting 256 or more colours.
