Asus has announced the imminent release of its two new tablets for £200.

The MeMO Pad 8 and MeMO Pad 10 will go on sale on October 21 for the same price, with the 8-inch version featuring a five-Megapixel camera and the 10-inch a two-Megapixel camera.

Both 16GB devices will have a 1280×800 screen resolution and a 1.2-Megapixel front-facing camera, an LED-backlit display and In-Plane Switching technology for a brighter image, both capturing 720p HD video.

The Android Jelly Bean OS tablets will compete with two other affordable tablets from Tesco and Argos this Christmas, as well as the iPad, iPad mini, Google Nexus and others.

Tesco’s £119 Hudl comes in a range of four colours, has 16GB of storage, and will run on the Jelly Bean OS.

Argos’s rival device, called MyTablet, will retail for £100, using the same OS, but featuring an 8GB memory.
