Irvine, California-based AST Research Inc warns that first quarter revenue for fiscal year 1996 will likely be lower than anticipated and losses greater than analysts estimates: the mean guesstimate was a per-share loss of about $1.38, against a reported loss of $0.22 per share in the year-ago quarter. AST said that revenue would be less than the previous quarter – net loss for the December quarter was $2.88 a share. It blamed excess competitor inventory and falling demand for personal computers.
