AST Research Inc late last week added the Premium 486/33 AT desktop, claiming it the fastest MS-DOS box yet. With 33MHz 80486, it has 8Kb cache memory and 80387-compatible maths co-processor, plus optional Weitek 4167 floating point CPU. Intel rates the 33MHz part at 20 VAX MIPS. The box has 4Mb memory, seven expansion slots, one parallel and two serial ports and a 5.25 floppy drive and sells for $10,000.
