AST Research Inc has launched an X25 board for the European market which enables IBM PS/2 Model 30 and other MS-DOS micros to communicate with hosts or other MS-DOS micros using public and private X25 networks: the card’s features also include 32 virtual circuits, each running 10 sessions, which can be upgraded to give 64 virtual circuits over NetBIOS-compatible network systems, a data rate of up to 128Kbps, an on-board 80188 processor, 256Kb of dynamic RAM, a 16Kb window for quick data transfer, and two general purpose ports with 25-pin and 15-pin connectors; the AST Connect 25 is compatible with CCITT proposals for X3, X28, X29 and X25 recommendations and is available now as stand alone at UKP1,000, or as a gateway, when it costs UKP1,500.
