Irvine, California-based AST Research Inc has expanded its Premium II line of upgradable personal computers with the Premium II 386/25 system at $2,200, which buys the 25MHz processor, Intel Corp’s Smart Cache, and 2Mb memory expandable to 80Mb, 16Mb of it on the processor board, Super VGA for 800 by 600 pixel resolution, is integrated on the system board, with two serial ports, one parallel port, one PS/2-compatible mouse port, an IDE Integrated Drive Electronics hard disk interface and a floppy controller for up to three floppy devices, and the machine includes a 1.44Mb floppy drive in base price.
