AST Research Inc has decided to withdraw from the subnotebook market after seeing prices slashed on the current generation and slower-than-expected growth in the market. Product development delays, reported a few weeks ago, also contributed to its decision. It had expected to begin shipping its Ascentia 500S subnotebook this month. It is sticking with its Ascentia 900N professional and 800N value notebooks.
