Irvine, California-based AST Research Inc thinks that Tandy Corp was charging too much for some of its notebook personal computers: the Convertible 486 will go for about $2,000, a $700 cut; the 386 GRiD Convertible is cut to $1,600 from $2,500; the PenExec Convertible pen-enabled machine is now $1,600, down from $2,500; the PenExec model with 4Mb and 200Mb disk configurations is cut to $1,700 from $2,800 – but the prices are hard to judge because they are AST’s estimate of street prices.
